A few things about me
My Background
Long before I became an educator, I was passionate about helping others. However, as a classroom teacher I felt limited in the ways I could address problems outside of my classroom. As a UX designer, I effectively advocate and help users while having the freedom and flexibility to research, prototype, and test more creative solutions. Working in an environment that merges my passion and skills, I constantly strive for my best. Collaborating with other designers, engineers, or marketing teams enables me to take full advantage of my creative outlet.
I am a natural storyteller, and I am passionate about creating ingenuitive ways to communicate my designs. However, the one aspect I feel drives my success as a user experience professional is listening. While I have been labeled a creative, the key to my designs is rarely a stroke of genius. More often than not, the catalyst for my best designs has been setting aside the time to have a conversation with my colleagues and clients. As I have learned throughout my professional career, communication can solve problems just as effectively as creativity.
My Process
Competitive Research
When a problem is put in front of me, the best way to wrap my head around all the design possibilities is to research how others have approached similar situations.
Huddle
Meaningful and layered communication with team members sheds more light on the problem space and makes a more comprehensive design solution.
Sketching Solutions
Sketching the interaction and elements of a solution is an efficient way for me to reveal the good and the ugly aspects of each design and how they can fit together to create a cohesive experience.
Refine & Iterate
Once I have a solid set of solutions, I go into an evaluation phase where I choose a direction for the design and hash out a wireframe deliverable to present to the stakeholders
